PROVINCIAL LICENSE WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

Alberta

British Columbia

The regulating body responsible for retail sales for recreational cannabis in British Columbia is the Liquor and Cannabis Regulation Branch (LCRB). Individuals or organizations interested in selling cannabis for recreational purpose must hold a retail license from LCRB.

Manitoba

Manitoba provides the license for retail sales for recreational cannabis through Liquor, Gaming and Cannabis Authority (LGCA) and wholesale distribution through Manitoba Liquor and Lotteries Corporation (MLLC). Individuals or organizations interested in selling cannabis for recreational purpose in Manitoba must hold a retail license from LGCA or MLLC.

Ontario

Individuals or organizations interested in selling cannabis in Ontario for recreational purposes must hold a retail cannabis license. The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) has been responsible with licensing eligible retail store operators, allowing cannabis retail outlets, and regulating cannabis sales under Ontario’s regulatory regime.

The Ontario Cannabis Store (OCS) is Ontario’s only licensed private retail cannabis wholesaler. Private retailers can only get cannabis from OCS. Retailers must first sign a wholesale supply agreement with the OCS before purchasing cannabis for their stores.

Québec

In Québec, all recreational cannabis stores are government-run with the Société Québécoise du Cannabis (SQDC). SQDC is authorized to purchase from licensed producers, operate retail locations, and sell cannabis online.
