Under the Cannabis Act and regulation, cannabis can be sold for both medical and recreational purposes.
The federal government oversees the sale of cannabis for medical purposes. To sell medical cannabis to medical patients, a sale for medical purposes license is required. There are two classes of medical sales license:
With possession (Where you have cannabis present on your site.)
Without possession (Where your cannabis is not on your site, and you are a distributor.)
the provincial and territorial governments are responsible for the sale and distribution of recreational sales. Recreational cannabis is sold with a retail license is required from the province/territory where the cannabis retail store is located. Refer to provincial licenses for more detail.
